We thought that it would last forever,
Praising it would never break,
Now all you see are crumbled stones
Where all past strength today seems fake.

Once our dream of glory had come true,
When this place was filled with life,
The streets were full of laughter
And the houses full of golden light.

Now where formerly we lived and loved
Time has faded all our traces,
And the earth reclaimed what once we took,
While humankind forgot our faces.

But look carefully, search with all your heart,
And you might find a trace of past:
A shard of metal, a piece of stone,
The ruin of a home that lasts.

And faded memory will be remembered,
The forgotten tale retold,
As our city's ruins are uncovered,
And our stories you unfold.

And again out works will matter,
As you marvel at our skill,
And through your books we'll live forever,
As years from now we'll be remembered still.

I was wondering what the ghosts of the people that once lived in the cities that are now ruins would say. So, here's what I think they'd tell us. :D

I tried rhyming in this poem... don't know whether it worked out very well. ^^; Please tell me what you think, I'll be thankful for every comment. If people like it, I might write some more poems like this one, but in general I think I'll stick to the way I usually write. This was so much work! :faint:

I hope you like it! :D

Another great piece of poetry :) I think you managed to take a rather more optimistic view than many would on this topic which was nice to see, opting for the idea that although at some point they have been forgotten, they will also be remembered when re-discovered which is far less depressing than just having been forgotten haha! Anyway, I really liked it and although the rhyme scheme seemed a bit wobbly in places on first reading, when I went back a second time, I saw it fitted together in a slightly different way to how I was trying to read it, so my bad! XD
